This individual will hold a ranked faculty position and oversee, enhance, and expand simulation-based education and experiential learning opportunities for nursing students across all nursing programs. The Assistant Dean will lead strategic initiatives to integrate cutting-edge simulation methodologies, strengthen partnerships with clinical and community partners, and ensure high-quality, evidence-based experiential learning that prepares students for real-world nursing practice in our new state-of-the-art Nursing Education Building. Set to open in winter 2026, our new building represents a bold leap forward in healthcare education.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Provide strategic leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of simulation and experiential learning programs; support prelicensure program expansion through developing, implementing and evaluating simulation experiences; professional development opportunities for faculty and staff involved in simulation-based teaching; establish and maintain partnerships with clinical and community agencies, healthcare organizations, and interprofessional education programs to enhance experiential learning opportunities; design and implement strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of simulation-based learning experiences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Academic experience and qualifications commensurate with a faculty appointment at the rank of Full Professor. Doctoral degree in nursing, education, or a related field. Active, unencumbered RN license or eligibility for licensure in North Carolina. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in simulation-based education. Expertise in simulation pedagogy. Demonstrated success in curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and interprofessional collaboration. Experience in program evaluation, accreditation processes, and research related to simulation and experiential learning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certification in simulation education (e.g., CHSE, CHSOS, or equivalent). Experience with emerging simulation technologies, including virtual and augmented reality. Grant-writing and external funding experience. National recognition in the field of simulation and experiential learning.
