Simulation Learning Center Manager

Summary of Work:

 

The Simulation Learning Center (SLC) Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Labs. This position will schedule, coordinate, and oversee all activities that occur in this state-of-the art facility. The manager will ensure adherence to simulation program policies, safety measures, and standards related to accreditation. This is an administrative position with eligibility for a clinical faculty rank based on background and experience. This is a 12-month, full-time position. Evening or weekend shifts may be required.


Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversees daily simulation operations, including scheduling, equipment/facility upkeep, and session coordination.
  • Manages room, equipment, and resource scheduling to maximize use.
  • Ensures needed resources (space, equipment, simulators) are available for learners and faculty.
  • Maintains compliance with safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including records and training materials.
  • Builds and maintains internal/external collaborations.
  • Supervises simulation staff (specialists, technologists, student workers) in hiring, training, evaluation, and development.
  • Collaborates with program coordinators to plan and assess student learning.
  • Creates and delivers reports to measure outcomes.
  • Stays current with emerging simulation technologies via professional engagement.
  • Recommends purchases to meet evolving tech and SLC needs.
  • Oversees lab setup/teardown for quick turnover.
  • Maintains Simulation Learning Center policy/procedure manual.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelors degree in a health profession.
  • Knowledge and experience with healthcare simulation.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, with an emphasis on interprofessional education and practice.
  • Experience with managing people.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • BSN prepared nurse with an active North Carolina RN license and a minimum of three years of clinical nursing management experience.
  • Familiarity with Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) protocols.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator.
  • Experience with scheduling software.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
  • Skilled in time management and setting priorities while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to function with a high level of accuracy, even under pressure.

 

Required Certifications/Licensure

 

  • Must have an active North Carolina RN license and a minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience.

The School of Nursing (SON) in the College of Health and Human Services at UNCW has a strong legacy of serving southeastern North Carolina through education, research, and service. The SON develops healthcare professionals through rigorous education, partnerships, applied research, and community engagement. Recognized as a National League of Nursing Center of Excellence for faculty pedagogy, SON is housed in McNeill Hall, a state-of-the-art facility with classrooms, labs, student spaces, and the Simulation Learning Center. The center uses high, medium, and low-fidelity patient simulators to provide realistic, collaborative learning experiences that support students’ cognitive, physical, social, and professional growth across CHHS programs.   • BS in Nursing (Prelicensure, RN-BSN, Accelerated – begins May 2025)
  • MS in Nursing (Nurse Educator)

- BSN to DNP (Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gero Nurse Practitioner)

- MSN to DNP (Nurse Executive Leadership and Post-APRN concentrations)

 

Clinical Research

 

  • BS in Clinical Research
  • Post- Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Research Operations
  • MS in Clinical Research and Product Development

 

Over 2,400 students are enrolled in programs within the SON. The SON has over 80 full-time faculty and employs over 60 part-time faculty per semester.
